Guests to our Tasting Room this week included a fan of the Rolf Binder Heinrich, a rich blend of the Barossan classics, Shiraz, Mataro and Grenache.
Germaine, Louise and Felix met up with winemaker Rolf Binder in our Tasting Room in the beautiful Barossa Valley.
Felix is from Melbourne and works in Advertising and Marketing, and is working on developing a new style of marketing research. He will need a lot of Heinrich SMG to keep the creative juices flowing!
Germaine and Louise are both from Singapore, although Germaine is currently residing in Adelaide while she completes her fourth year of Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia.
Louise is a big fan of the Rolf Binder Heinrich, and her office in Singapore has been known, on more than one occasion, to slip down to their local Denise Wine Shop for a Friday afternoon bottle of Heinrich Shiraz Mataro Grenache.
The Heinrich is a brilliant Barossa blend of three classic varieties.
The Shiraz is mostly grown on the Chri-Ro Estate, where the winery and Tasting Room are located; and some is sourced from our prized Western Ridge Vineyard, overlooking the Gomersal region on the western side of the Barossa Valley. This combination of premium Shiraz gives the wine the rich fresh plum and dark berry characters, so often associated with wines of this region.
The century-old Mataro adds the savoury notes to the wine - liquorice, leather, mocha and spice. These old gnarled vines grow behind the winery, and take no water except that which falls, leaving rich concentrated fruit.
The Grenache adds the lightness and fun to the blend. Cherries, raspberries, and Redskins lollies, the Grenache brings fresh red berry fruits to the mix and brightens up the final wine.
